Most systems store the current state of a patient and overwrite it as things change. ClinOS stores what happened, when it happened, and when you recorded it — permanently. A correction is a new entry that supersedes the old one; nothing is ever silently rewritten.
That one decision changes what the software can honestly promise. You can read any patient's record as it stood on any date. Every entry is hash-chained to the one before it, so tampering is detectable rather than deniable. When a complaint arrives four years later, the record answers for itself.
Append-only and bitemporal, enforced by the database rather than by discipline. Notes, the odontogram, the timeline and every report are views over that one log.
Migration from Exact and Dental4Windows is built first, not last, with an exceptions report as a deliverable. The question that matters is binary: can you turn the old system off on day one.
You are billed per clinician with an active appointment book — once each, however many of your clinics they work at. Everyone else is included, at every tier.
Appointments are sequences of resource segments, so dovetailing works and double-booking is refused by the database itself rather than by a warning somebody clicks past.
Dental, periodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, orthodontics. A lens changes the sequence, the default views and the vocabulary. It never changes what is available.
AI writes to a proposal queue and never to the clinical record. Every output carries its evidence, and it is never the last thing to act before a patient is told something.
ClinOS is built by Craig Campbell — twenty-eight years in clinical practice in Auckland, a Dentsply Sirona key opinion leader, and the owner of the practices it is being built against. Not a sample database: the real thing, with everything a twenty-year-old record actually contains.
